NOTE: This was written on the 3rd, which is why the first paragraph and today's date do not coincide
As I awoke this morning to hear more about the "we're not calling it a terrorist attack by radical / mindful Islamist" on the television and radio, along with all the we need to ban this that or the other, need more police, need more camera, more monitoring, etc. I decided that this would be my argument today.
As an individual who trains daily for the fight, has been in combat, has a will to live and the pride to say enough is enough, here goes nothing. Hate or love me after this I give zero ****s either way. I will still sleep at night.
Soft Targets versus Hard Targets. What are they? Why is it important to know and recognize the differences? Is it truly that important? The answer is HELL YES! It will mean the difference between life and death. The difference between survival without fighting and having to fight to survive.
So what is a soft target? A soft target is an area or a person who refuses to take their safety into account and don't have the will to fight. So therefore they come up with any excuse to why they don't like violence, don't believe in fighting when the time comes to fight, will use signs like "NO GUNS" , "NO WEAPONS", "NO FIGHTING, WEAPONS, OR VULGAR LANGUAGE, PLEASE COME ATTACK ME CAUSE I'M UNABLE TO DEFEND MYSELF AND OTHERS BECAUSE I'M WEAK MINDED WITHOUT A SPINE" type signs with the hopes that someone else will protect them. They use excuses like God or the police will protect me and guide me.
Well religion is all well and good but even God gave his angels weapons because he knew that peace wouldn't ever come easy and defeating evil isn't a simple task that just talking could do. Talking is for those that plan to fight and are capable of fighting....not for those who refuse to take a stand against that evil of which they're confronting.
I look at soft targets as places such as schools, churches, stadiums, banks, ABC stores, etc. As a place that evil people look for because they realize no one can or will fight back, this includes those that obey the law 100%. We become targets. Other soft targets are places like Walmart, Target, malls, shopping centers, etc. etc. Yes there are someone people armed, maybe but also this is where there's tons of potential victims.
Terrorist, murderers, rapist, pedophiles, and other evil people like that look for places where they can be anyone at anytime. Then when those looking to cause harm officially do it and do it with illegally obtain weapons or even legally obtained, then the many that only see the few blame the many for the actions of a few or one.
Hard targets, I.E. Gun ranges, gun stores ( most but not all ), police stations, places where there's signs saying you're allowed to have a gun, are not nearly attacked as often as the soft targets. Why? Because people in these areas have the means and the will to fight back and many of them will do just that.
So why do I write this article this way? Because I'm tired of seeing the weak become weaker because they surrender more and more rights as well as liberties for so-called "security" and by that they deserve neither. I'm also sick of seeing the new blood come up and saying yeah I took a concealed carry class but refuse to train further for the fight and future threats that may occur.
I want to see hard targets become the everyday occurance and the soft targets become a thing of the past. Yes we may see an increase in violence for three to six months but after that, crime would plummet and everything would balance out. Why? Because those that do evil onto others will always go after those that can't fight back and when good men do nothing evil will always triumph..
...So prepare for the fight
...Be ready for the threat
...Have the will to live
...Never stand down
Stay safe, stay alert, and always carry
