We all know that the gun control movement has its roots in the various race based weapons prohibition laws stretching back to the very beginnings of our country. In fact, gun control predates the founding of our nation, as laws were passed in 1751 in the French colony of Louisiana that prohibited blacks from carrying arms and authorizing whites to stop them, beat them, seize their weapons, and if necessary shoot them. These type of laws continued to be written and enforced from the Revolutionary era, through the Civil War & Reconstruction all the way up until the 1960’s when the Black Panther marches convinced the tolerant citizens of California to ban open carry of firearms. Of course modern gun control advocates will say that they no longer hold to such race based views, however reality says something quite different.
In the most recent example Mr. Clarence Daniels, an elderly black man, wanted to purchase some Coffee Mate creamer for his wife’s coffee so he headed out to Wal-Mart. Like many of us who are licensed to carry concealed, he brought along his sidearm. As he was getting out of his car Mr. Daniel Foster, a white man, caught a glimpse of Mr. Daniel’s firearm holstered on his side. Taking a page from various gun control groups, he didn’t call the police or notify store security of someone walking around with a holstered firearm (although doing so is perfectly legal in FL). He grabbed Mr. Daniels by the neck, threw him to the ground, beat him, choked him out and took his firearm from him. In doing so he was acting out the script from many gun control advocates and groups like Steve Marmel who advocates assaulting firearm owners who carry guns in public and the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence whose Facebook page is filled with threats of violence towards anyone who even dares own a firearm. To add insult to injury Shannon Watts, the head of Moms Demand Action for Gunsense in America, took to Twitter to lament that the man who viciously attacked Mr. Daniels was arrested.
In a previous example of the racism inherent within the minds of those who seek to disarm us; Mr. John Crawford, a young black man, was walking through a WalMart in Ohio and found a BB gun lying unboxed in an aisle of the store. He picked it up and was walking around with it, leaning on it like a cane while he spoke on the telephone. Keep in mind during the course of this narrative that the open carry of long guns is completely legal in Ohio. As Mr. Crawford was standing in an aisle; Mr. Ronald Ritchie, a white man, observed him. Like many good gun control advocates advocate, Mr. Ritchie decided to SWAT Mr. Crawford because people shouldn’t have guns in public (especially young black ones). Mr. Ritchie called 911 and described Mr. Crawford as pointing the BB gun, which he identified as a 5.56 M4 based on his experience as a Marine (he was kicked out of Boot Camp), that he was loading it (despite the magazine being an integral, non-removable piece of plastic), that he was pointing it at women and children (despite none being in the vicinity of Mr. Crawford) and that he looked like he wasn’t going to go down easy. To further the scheme a woman in Mr. Ritchie’s vicinity screamed that she has been shot, despite the rifle being a BB gun and the fact there wasn’t even any BBs in it. The police responded as if it was an active shooter event and unfortunately Mr. Crawford, a father of 3 who had never had any problems with the law, was killed by responding officers. Gun control pages on Facebook were filled with glee as gun control advocates celebrated his death as an “ammosexual” getting what was coming to him for “intimidating” <insert shoppers / moms / women / children / the public / etc etc etc>.
Now Michael Bloomberg, the paymaster for many of the gun control organizations currently in operation, has raised the bar or modern gun control racism even further. In a recent interview with the Aspen Times, he stated that guns should be kept out of the hands of young black men. I was considering commenting further on that statement however mere words cannot convey my disgust. I will leave you with this however- When StormFront (a neo-Nazi website) agrees with your statement, you truly have screwed up.
From the very first laws forbidding the carriage of weapons which predate the founding of our nation, to Shannon Watts lamenting the arrest of a white man for beating & choking a black man for legally carrying a handgun, to the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence membership cheering the SWATing death of a black man holding a BB rifle, to Michael Bloomberg’s statement that young black men should be forbidden from having firearms… the racism of gun control is very much alive today.
Unfortunately the same violent and sometimes deadly consequences for exercising Second Amendment rights exist for blacks today- just as they did in 1751.
