Gun control advocates are known to play fast and loose with the truth. The reason for this is without lies and distortions of reality, their positions & assertions fall apart in the face of fact & truth. They are fully aware that they are lying to their followers and have no moral qualms about doing so as long as it furthers their agenda of creating a monopoly of force centered on those individuals who they deem worthy. Those few worthy individuals are of course those on their payroll (but that is a subject for a blog entry in and of itself).
This of course does not mean that all gun control advocates are liars but rather that they may be well-intentioned, albeit misled, individuals who are basing their position on untruths put forth by various gun control figureheads. They by-and-large have no experience with firearms and have based their opinions on Hollywood / TV as well as what they are told by various gun control groups which reinforce their confirmation bias. In this article I am going to take some time to show the pattern of lies, point out some of the more egregious ones and shine the light of truth upon those who mislead their followers for profit & to push the political agenda of their paymasters.
First up is the has-been of the gun control movement, a man whose fall from Bloomberg’s grace has caused him to ramp up his hysteria, fear mongering and outright lying in a bid to regain some of his past power and authority in the movement- Ladd Everitt of the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence (as Communications Director for the CSGV all public communications will be attributed to him).
In one of his recent posts to Facebook Mr. Everitt bemoaned that a father was teaching his young daughter to shoot an AR-15 in a video posted to YouTube. While it is his prerogative to criticize anyone he feels like criticizing there was one problem with his critique. Nowhere in the video does an AR-15 appear at any time. I’ll repeat that… Mr. Everitt is stirring up his followers telling them a young girl is shooting an AR-15 despite there being NO AR-15 in the video. There wasn’t even one on a rack, in the background, hanging in a tree in the distance… for all I know the girl’s father doesn’t even own one (based on the lack of AR-15s in the video). He uses the term simply to manufacture outrage amongst his followers and to incite them to harass a man who is teaching his young daughter how to shoot using a .22 rimfire plinker. It isn’t that the girl is too young to actually fire an AR-15 (considering Shyanne Roberts can probably outshoot me) but rather he lying in order to use a modern day version of the Boogeyman to fan the flames of hatred because HE doesn’t think anyone should own that particular rifle, despite one not appearing in the video.
In another incident involving a YouTube video, a gun control advocate produced a video encouraging young children to steal their parents firearms and bring them to school to hand them to their teachers. The video was linked to the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence and many pro 2A Facebook pages took them to task for advocating that teens commit multiple felony criminal acts to push their political agenda. Ladd took to Facebook disavowing any knowledge of the video and to distance himself from the righteous blowback coming his way for endangering minors. He flat out stated that he had nothing to do with the video, even going so far to say that it was a pro 2A “false flag”. That was until a series of Tweets were presented to him showing that the CSGV gave the film’s creator editing advice, that he liked the video, and would promote it if the runtime was trimmed down a little. Ladd of course spent a few hours madly deleting any post with screenshots of the Twitter exchange, then deleted the entire Facebook disavowal post and the Tweet.
Ladd has even gone so far as to Tweet in May last year that people who have serious mental issues such as those who commit mass shootings pay attention to the law. His lies extend to the point of exploiting those who desperately need help in order to push for civilian disarmament. The exact quote was “Laws can and do deter people who are mentally unbalanced”. Do you think this man honestly believes that someone whose mind is so broken that they are willing to commit the ultimate crime against another human being will be deterred from killing because a politician made owning or carrying a firearm illegal? Of course he doesn’t, it’s just another example of his litany of lies.
Those examples pale in comparison to the heavy hitter in the lying game though. When it comes to top shelf lies, misinformation and misdirection; the trophy goes to Ms. Shannon Watts of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America.
Shannon has made an entire career out of lying for profit- from being the corporate mouthpiece for WellPoint where she described cutting off home health care for a brain damaged 13 year old boy who was unable to walk, sit up, speak or even eat by mouth, and is fed formula through a stomach tube as “Examining developments in medical science, such as new drugs and surgical procedures, to determine what care is state of the art and should be provided to members.” (so much for caring about children) to being the corporate mouthpiece for Monsanto (I don’t even need to add anything to that one).
Shannon has taken her skills for lying to new heights with the Bloomberg organized and subsidized Moms Demand Action. In the most recent example she posted a series of photos on a Facebook post which started out “Last week gun extremists toting semi-automatic rifles…” in relation to Raising Cane’s chicken restaurants. What is the problem with that post? Most of the photos were 2 years old and of an organization that no longer visits retail establishments unless they are specifically invited. Only 1 photo, of the entire collage of photos, was taken within 10 days of the post and that photo was of 5 men with one rifle in evidence. To top it off the organization represented in the remainder of the photos has publicly disavowed the individual in the remaining single photo.
In another example, a “study” conducted by the Moms Demand Action parent organization Everytown for Gun Safety titled “Hiding in Plain Sight” which states that Vermont firearm sellers are selling firearms to felons, domestic abusers and other criminals without background checks. What is the problem with this? It is literally all lies, completely made up without one iota of fact contained within. The lies are so egregious that the report has generated a civil suit for defamation and libel by a licensed FFL holder that Everytown asserted was involved in multiple Federal criminal acts as well as numerous State level felonies.
Another one of Shannon’s famous lies is her gross exaggeration of school shootings. Ms. Watts included individuals killed in the middle of the night conducting drug deals under bleachers, gang warfare on weekends, people shot within a few blocks of a school and even a man killed several miles away and dumped on school property as school shootings. Why would she do this? When one thinks “school shootings” we think of a deranged psychopath walking into a school (which are incidentally Gun Free Zones) and shooting poor little Scooter Jr. She uses her lies to inflame her followers, knowing that they will not take the time and effort to research the facts behind her statement and simply take it at face value. At the time Shannon listed 74 school shootings. CNN researched her statement and found that the actual number was slightly less. They came up with 15. When even CNN, a notoriously anti-gun network calls you out for inflating your statistics by 500%, it might be time to stop telling such whoppers.
Of course she didn’t stop. She calls defensive gun usage a myth despite President Obama’s mandated study showing that armed resistance result in markedly lower injury and death rates. She says her members gave cookies to the TX State Legislature to promote gunsense and supplied a photo of them in the Statehouse, but didn’t realize that the TX State Legislature wasn’t in session until the next day. She tied a man getting carjacked and shot in a public parking lot at a shopping mall to Kroger’s firearm policy intimating that if Kroger banned firearms from their premises that the incident would not have happened despite the incident not occurring on Kroger property. She considers 24 year old gangbangers to be “children” in her made up statistics on how many kids are killed with firearms. She claims her employees being physically escorted off of Staples corporate headquarters property by security as a “Gunsense victory”. She claims anyone who disagrees with her is a misogynist yet has no problem with her Bloomberg supplied meathead goon squad physically assaulting Dana Loesch when she tried to interview her. She even referred to over 90% of Moms Demand endorsed candidates losing in the midterm elections as a victory.
Then there is the one lie which has truly earned her the top spot in the Liar for Hire championship. This is the one lie to rule them all, one lie to find them; one lie to bring them all. and in the darkness bind them. (Sorry I am a huge Tolkien fan).
Shannon has claimed on numerous occasions to support the Second Amendment yet has Tweeted that she considers any firearm capable of firing more than one shot every six seconds to be an assault weapon that should be banned. How exactly does one state that they are in support of the Second Amendment yet believe that every firearm made after the early 1820’s (and many made before that date) should be confiscated by the government and banned from society? In a gunsense world I guess this is what passes for logic.
While this might come off like a hit piece, that is not my intention nor is a hit piece in keeping with the 1MMAGC ethos of positivity. It is written to give you the ammunition (pun intended) to be able to shine the light of truth into the dark corners of their positions. Good people recognize truth because truth does not need to be explained. Truth can stand by itself. Truth does not need moderators banning people by the thousands daily. This article was written so that maybe… just maybe… one member of Moms Demand Action will stumble upon this blog post, read it, and the little light bulb will light up above her head because she was brought through the veil of lies into the light of truth… and I’ll call THAT a gunsene victory!
