So, the Deerfield gun ban will go in effect June 13th. The city where NO gun violence has occurred in recent history yet they "feel" (and by feel I mean emotionally driven, crappy, trample on the rights of citizens so we anti gunners feel good law) they need to restrict the rights of their residents. Lets see, according to the Chicago Tribune, the rate of accidents by car (last year) at Lake Cook Road are 526 which is COINCIDENTALLY an area of HIGH CELL PHONE USAGE. (as stated by Deerfield Police Chief John Sliozis) NOW - One high school student who attended the Deerfield townhall meeting said this (and I will relate it to the cell phone comment below that....
"Sarah Gordon, 420 Carriage Way, is a Deerfield High School student. She feels both sides were
present today. Ms. Gordon reminded the Board that 560 Deerfield High School students walked
out of their classes last Wednesday in support of what is going on here and in solidarity with
Parkland Florida students. We are all responsible for our own behavior. But if you give a person
a gun, you give them a way to do horrible things. The Board is being preemptive. There may
not be an issue today, but there could be. This Ordinance is constitutional. She believes the
Board should take any and all actions to prevent a mass atrocity"
So by Sarah's own statement of taking preemptive action, I believe they should remove the PRIVILEGE of cell phone use from teens and adults to STOP cell phone prone accidents. If you give people a cell phone, they drive and do horrible things when they crash their cars... Her statement of "we are all responsible for our own behavior BUT... shows she really isn't grasping real life here and she really doesn't feel we are responsible for our own behavior.... (Like seriously contradictory here...) If you give people cars, you give them a way to do horrible things.... You give people knives, you give them a way to do horrible things.... You give people planes you give them a way to do horrible things and so on and so on.... we could do this all day. What I see in terms of peoples support of the ban? They FEEL its so good, you know just in case.... Wonder what their response to the Shotgun and .38 used in the recent school attack is, shall we ban them too? You know take preemptive action? If you think they will stop at "assault rifles" and "high capacity magazines" you are crazy....
You see, in this case the "high capacity magazines" it bans commonly owned handguns - such as my Smith and Wesson M&P 9mm. that holds 17 rounds... Not banning just the "scary looking long black guns" This is a way to slowly ban ALL guns period. Interesting to note that the Mayor of Highland Park (which the city has a ban on "Assault weapons" ) Nancy Rotering, is stated as wishing the state had a ban on them (meaning "assault rifles") .... Lets see, in 2016:
"In Illinois, guns were used in 799 murders and rifles were used in just 14 of them. A year earlier, in 2015, the state reported 1,220 total firearms-related deaths, including murders, suicides and accidents."
"Nationwide, the vast majority of murderers who used a gun — 64 percent — wielded a handgun. And far more murderers used knives or their own hands, fists and feet than any rifle, including — and in particular — the AR-15 rifle."
sooooo Nancy, a statewide ban on "Assualt Rifles" would be useless (yet again like the nationwide ban in the 90s).... I wish they had preemptively bannd commonly used serrated well known kitchen knives so that my sisters attack wouldn't have happened... (insert sarcasm here for those of you who have no sarcasm meter...)
To sum it up, anti gunners don't care about all violence, just violence by gun if it can push the agenda of getting rid of all firearms........
