If you are anything like me, you begin to feel like a broken record when discussing the Second Amendment with the anti gun side.
They try to draw us into a kumbaya, emotions trump rights, "won't anyone think about the children" guilt trip.
While we present facts, talk about perceived safety versus preparation, and quote our enumerated, unalienable, rights outlined in the United States Constitution.
We debate, argue, post memes, and share articles, via all forms of social media day in and day out.
It is, after all, the information age. We have more facts, statistics, graphs, and data being uploaded and downloaded every single day than ever before in history.
However, we seem to continually be repeating ourselves. When was the last time you heard a brand new anti gun argument? That begs the question, are we, as pro constitution, active gun rights advocates, and second amendment supports, getting through to anyone at all?
Yes. Yes, I believe we are. With gun sales rocketing, violent crime on the decline, an unprecedented number of concealed carry permits being issued nationwide, and the recent rapid increase of women becoming involved in this longtime male dominated industry, I'd say that we are, without a doubt, getting our point across.
We may not be convincing every liberal progressive anti gun activist to embrace personal responsibility to be prepared to protect themselves. Yet, we are seeing the fence sitters choosing sides and the side most are hopping down to is the side of facts, logic, and results.
You and I may feel like we are constantly repeating, rehashing, and replaying the same facts day after day, but keep it up!
You are making a difference. You, through consistency, respectful dialog with the opposition, and dedication, are an example to all of the people still sitting astride that fence. You are changing attitudes and with that helping to chart the course of our county.
So, be that broken record. Be that voice of reason. Do not give up.
Together, we are making a difference.
