Here are the numbers from 2013 via the CDC, ATF, FBI, and DOJ.
According to available FBI, ATF, and DOJ statistics illegal firearms make up for between 94% and 97% of crimes committed with guns, with less than one tenth of a percent of those are purchased from gun shows or misc. retail sales done without background checks.
So let’s figure this out.
6% of 11,208 = 673 homicides committed by legal gun owners who passed a background check, this number would also include self-defense cases that were found unjustifiable resulting in a homicide conviction.
So now we know roughly how many crimes are committed by law abiding gun owners, 673, and we know roughly how many law abiding gun owners there is, about 80 million. So that means that statistically .0008% of us law abiding gun owners commit crime while 99.9992% of us do not! And the anti-gun crowd calls us gun worshipers, paranoid, and a myriad of other names along with bashing the NRA because of this .0008% ???
Now for the "gun show loophole".
.1% of 11,208 = 11 homicides with firearms from gun shows and retail sales with no background checks (This statistic is actually very hard to keep track of because it is so small). So at best, universal background checks might eliminate those 11 that were done with firearms being purchased without any background checks, if they didn’t find another way to obtain a gun illegally.
That leaves 10,524 homicides done with completely illegal firearms that would be absolutely unchanged by ANY gun control measure ever thought of. Matter of fact any new gun control laws would also have no effect on reducing suicides or gun accidents, those need to be addressed with mental healthcare, suicide prevention, and safety education, all of which the pro-gun crowd already advocates for. So obviously any new measures would have almost no impact on decreasing the number of victims of "gun violence".
So now for the million dollar question, what can we do about this?
First, start punishing the criminals and not legal gun owners we're getting sick of it! So how do we punish the criminals and prevent "gun violence"? Here are just a few ideas that would punish criminals and not law abiding gun owners-
These would at least be a good start!
Final point, please remember that law abiding gun owners use their guns in defense of themselves, their family, or others, anywhere between 500 thousand and 2.5 million times a year! Statistically when law abiding gun owners use their personal weapons in self defense 96% are successful without a shot fired. Of the remaining 4% , between 78% to 90% of those result in only wounding the criminal and only 10% to 22% are fatalities . This only equals between 0.625% and 3.125% of lawful gun owners so why is that number so hard to believe????

By now we have all seen the push by the 6th richest person in America and his paid mouthpieces… oops sorry… gun control advocates to do “Whatever it takes” to end what they call “gun violence”. Now in this article we are not going to go into the official position of Moms Demand Action which is that people who are killed by other means don’t count. Instead we are going to focus on the buildup to this hashtag movement, what has come before it, and the violence inherent to the campaign.
Over the past 2 years or so, we have seen an increasingly strident group of individuals like Shannon Watts (the former head of Monsanto’s Global PR division) and Ladd Everitt (Communications Director for the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence) vilify and ostracize firearm owners. They have openly called for the confiscation of every firearm made after 1830. They have used terms like “ammosexuals” and promoted homophobic artists who equate being gay with a way to shame gun owners. They have openly advocated SWATing firearm owners who are neither causing harm nor breaking laws. They have told their members to abuse Law Enforcement telecommunications systems to further their political goals. They have stated they would have no issue rounding us up into camps so long as a court said it was OK to do so. They have openly cheered the SWATing death of an innocent father of 3 for the heinous crime of looking at a BB gun for sale in WalMart. They have openly cheered as an elderly black man was beaten and choked by a white gun control extremist for having the temerity to exercise his rights. Their constant inciting of fear and hatred and their nonstop agitation of their members to commit criminal acts has even led to the death of a 12 year old boy playing with a toy (the same children they supposedly want to protect). They call us insurrectionists, terrorists and call for our death by droning / military action.
Now- we have established a few things already. For review purposes I’ll list them (pay attention there will be a short quiz later):
All of the above has been well documented in previous blogs via screen captures of both Facebook postings as well as Twitter posts. None of the above should really surprise anyone who even has a passing interest in firearms. If you own a firearm then Shannon Watts, Moms Demand Action, Everytown, Ladd Everitt, the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence and all their followers want you dead. Nothing would make them happier to see their fellow citizens shot down like rabid dogs or for their entire families to die in a missile strike… all because they wish to be left alone to live their lives in a manner they choose to. They advocate for it ceaselessly. They incite their followers constantly. It is a never ending stream of the calls for violence against every man, woman and child who dares enjoy the shooting sports.
Now they are saying they will do #WhateverItTakes. Let’s look at nothing more than those 3 words for right now: “Whatever It Takes”. They will do WHATEVER IT TAKES. Those words are very specific and chosen for a likewise very specific reason. Don’t let these people fool you into thinking they just made it up because it sounds good. This hashtag comes from the former head of Monsanto’s GLOBAL public relations division. The woman lies for a living. She knows EXACTLY what she is doing- which is why groups like the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence have jumped on it as well. It doesn’t matter what happens to firearm owners, or our families. Why doesn’t it matter? Because they are doing WHATEVER IT TAKES to achieve their goals.
It is a call for their members to step up their campaign against us. It is a call for more harassment, more abuse, more vilification, more dehumanization, more violence against us, and more deaths at their hands. The worst part is they are outright admitting it, reveling in it, proudly proclaiming their desire to visit violence and death upon us (at the hands of the police of course- THEY’RE not violent) by doing WHATEVER IT TAKES.
Now remember that list I put up a few paragraphs ago? Remember I told you that there was going to be a quiz? I hope you took notes because here it is….
1- A gun control advocate will:
A: Falsely report you as an active shooter
B: Sneak up behind you and beat / choke you
C: Throw scalding hot coffee in your face
D: All of the above
2- True or False:
A gun control advocate lied about a young black father of 3 children looking at a BB gun in WalMart being an active shooter and got him killed by the local police.
3- True or False:
Gun control advocates cheered the death of the young father in Question 2.
4- Gun control advocates have openly said they want:
A: To kill gun owners and our families
B: To have us rounded up into internment/concentration camps
C: To use the US military and Law Enforcement apparatus against gun owners
D: All of the above
5- True or False
Shannon Watts was upset that the white man who beat and choked an elderly black man for legally exercising his rights got arrested.
6- Gun Control Organizations have:
A: Advocated violence against gun owners
B: Advocated SWATing gun owners
C: Advocated making false police reports
D: All of the above
7- Gun owners
A: Just wish to be left alone
B: Do not want their lawfully purchased property seized by the government
C: Do not want their families killed by drone strikes
D: All of the above
8- Gun control advocates:
A: Want to force their will on everyone around them
B: Want to seize the property of others if they do not like them owning it
C: Have no issues using violence to achieve those goals
D: All of the above.
So… how do you think you did?
Here’s an answer key:
If you’ve been even peripherally involved in the shooting sports or 2nd Amendment advocacy, you’ll have aced the quiz. None of this is new to us.
Now with that in mind, knowing the mindset of gun control groups and their minions, knowing the deliberate dehumanization of gun owners via the wordsmithing of the former head of Monsantos PR division, the marginalization of gun owners… do you honestly think that these individuals and groups openly proclaiming they will do WHATEVER IT TAKES to achieve their goals is in any way the warm & fuzzy hashtag campaign they pretend it to be?
- Mr. Decker
On this day in 2001, America experienced the opening shots of a war. This was the first enemy action on US soil in over 50 years and the salvo fired by jihadi extremists took more lives than the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941. I was in uniform, wearing a badge and a sidearm that day. I was a cop at an airport 700 miles away from the World Trade Center, 450 miles away from the Pentagon, 500 miles away from Shanksville PA… but I knew my brothers and sisters would be running into those buildings, into that burning farmer's field, in an effort to render aid to the injured, to save lives even at the cost of their own.
One of those officers was PO Walter Weaver.
Officer Weaver ran INTO the WTC while everyone else was running away. He ran into the maelstrom of fire, smoke, blood and death not because it was his job but because it was who he WAS.
I used the past tense because PO Walter Weaver, like many of his brothers and sisters that day, did not make it out of the building. He laid down his life so that others may live. On his hip during his final moments with us was a S&W Model 642 Centennial, a small .38 revolver popular with plainclothes officers and detectives.
While Officer Weaver did not make it out of the WTC, his sidearm did. Investigators traced the serial number of the recovered heavily damaged revolver and returned it to Officer Weaver’s family. The Weavers in turn donated it to the NRA museum, so it would be preserved for generations to come as a symbol and a tribute to ALL the men & women who have fallen in the line of duty. This revolver and what it symbolizes is as meaningful to the law enforcement community as the Battlefield Cross is to the military (boots/rifle/helmet).
It is this memorial to all the NYPD officers who fell that day, who never made it out, who have since died from the toxins they were exposed to and inhaled as they worked 24 hours a day in the burning pile, that Shannon Watts has chosen to attack today.
HOW DARE SHE?
While I usually maintain my professional demeanor and manage to restrict myself from using certain language as 1MMAGC is a family oriented site and this is a family oriented blog, I want her to hear this message loud and clear.
Who do you think you are to mock and malign a memorial to a fallen police officer on 9-11? What is next up for you and your demented followers? Perhaps mocking sailors in Hawaii on December 7th? Maybe denigrating soldiers mourning around a Battlefield Cross? Why not just bust out some neon “God Hates Fags” signs and show up at officer’s funerals?
Do you have no decency Shannon? Do you have no empathy? Do you have no soul?
How much of Bloomberg’s money did it take for you to sell every shred of humanity you had left to Uncle Mike? There isn’t any use at this point denying it either because after today’s display I, and every other officer who knew that our brothers were going to die that day, no longer consider you human. You are nothing more than an animated walking shell of what used to be a human, who has sold her dignity and what was left of her blackened, evil soul to her corporate master.
I say again Shannon, on behalf of cops everywhere….
Do you want to prevent mass shootings from taking place on school campuses?
We need legislation to allow teachers with training to concealed carry on campus. Remember the saying: "the only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun"? Gun control advocates use that saying to assert that we don't stop enough crimes, ignoring the fact that mass shootings are typically in gun free zones, where we are barred from protecting ourselves and others.
Allowing our teachers that volunteer to train and carry firearms would empower a good citizen to stand between our children and outside threats the entire time that they are at school. Those who have survived a school shooting often recognize that it could have been stopped had someone been able to fight back, or at least show resistance. It is deplorable that we live in a world where murderers target schools, churches, and military recruitment centers. However, it will continue to occur until the cowardly criminals who commit these heinous acts are stopped, and it's up to people like legally armed citizens to stop them, since our police officers can't be there all the time.
Training and arming teachers is an intelligent and logical way to protect our children in their schools. In gun-free zones, criminals see an easy target, knowing they cannot be stopped. However, we believe evil people would reconsider if they knew they could likely encounter several armed citizens who would protect the students.
Tightening background checks, magazine capacity limits, and assault weapons bans would do very little to ensure that the "bad guy" didn't get a gun illegally or, even worse, use a more deadly weapon such as a bomb. At least give our children’s protectors a fighting chance! Please ask yourself: is ANY gun control proposal going to protect my child today? Training and arming our teachers would.
Please push for legislation that would at least give our children some protection and help to abolish all gun free zones.
I’d like to start off this article by offering my apologies for having been absent from the 1MMAGC blog for quite a while. As some of you may know, my current position involves the support of US interests overseas with an emphasis on the Middle East. It has been the past few months working OCONUS with the Peshmerga and active duty US Warfighters that inspired this bit of writing on the true insurrectionists in America- The Coalition to Stop Gun Violence.
For those of you not familiar with The Coalition to Sop Gun Violence, they are now the has-beens of the gun control movement. The funding they formally received in bulk from the likes of NY mega-billionaire Michael Bloomberg has dried up with the bulk of Mr. Bloomberg’s cash going to his pet organization Moms Demand Action for Gunsense in America and his pay-to-play mouthpiece Shannon Watts. This has left the organization, and it’s Communication Director Mr. Ladd Everitt on the short end of the funding stick. This in turn has led to the radicalization of the organization and the tolerance and even outright promotion of illegal acts against law abiding citizens in order to further their desire of forcing their will upon anyone who disagrees with them.
Part of their corporate strategy is to dehumanize the “enemy”- which in their case is anyone who owns something they don’t like. This tactic has been used, both within the US and in other countries, to help military service members kill their opponents. When one human being looks at another human being, the normal reaction is one of empathy at best or indifference at worst. To cause the death of that person runs counter to billions of years of evolutionary impetus that tells us that killing another member of our society is wrong and counter-productive to our best interests. It is imperative to induce a mindset in combatants that the enemy isn’t human, that they are a “thing”. In WWII our enemy were “Japs” and “Krauts”. In WWII Germany the enemy was “the Jews”. In Vietnam our enemy was “gooks”. In the Late Great Hate our enemy was “hajji” and now our enemy is “ISIS” (the same enemy the Peshmerga refer to as “Daesh”).
Fighter pilots kill planes- not the pilots. Tankers kill tanks- not the crews. Bomber pilots strike targets- not occupied cities and building. This mindset allows them to kill, hopefully without the disastrous side effects that usually follow the taking of a human life by a normal, well adjusted member of a civilized society. In the case of The Coalition to Stop Gun Violence, they gleefully use terms like “ammosexuals”, “gun-humpers” and most interestingly “domestic terrorists” and “insurrectionists” to refer to people who object to the government seizing their lawfully purchased property. It is this dehumanization and marginalization and it allows them, and their members, to rationalize and justify setting us up to be killed in the same way US troops in WWII killed “Japs” and Waffen SS division killed “Jews” and “Untermensch” (subhumans).
So where has this dehumanization of gun owners led? What direction is CSGV leading its followers in? They are advocating the abuse of law enforcement telecommunications and personnel to effect the deaths of lawful gun owners. I’m not kidding either- they openly advise their followers to call 911 to report persons who have committed no crime as armed men. They even take this a step further and have advised their members to continue to abuse law enforcement telecommunications systems if they do not get the person lawfully carrying a firearm killed. By abusing the 911 system, tying up dispatchers and patrol officers, and in the event of a police response that involves shooting the tying up of fire / EMS personnel- they are denying the use of those services to people who actually may have a real criminal or crime they need help with. There have already been vivid examples of this type of behavior which has unfortunately led to the deaths of a well respected father of 3 as well as a 12 year old child.
In the former case, Mr. John Crawford III was shopping in Wal-Mart and picked up a BB gun that someone had left out of its box and on a shelf. CSGV fan Ronald Ritchie saw Mr. Crawford and decided to take the advice CSGV offers and called 911 to report an armed gunman. He identified himself as a “former Marine” (lie #1), stated Mr. Crawford had an M4 (lie #2), stated Mr. Crawford was loading the magazine (lie #3- this was impossible), and stated Mr. Crawford was pointing the rifle at “women and children” and looked like “he wasn’t going to go down easy” (lie #4). Police officers responded to the scene of a potential active shooter and during the course of the response shot Mr. Crawford, a father of 3 with no criminal record, dead. Store surveillance later showed Mr. Crawford was leaning on the BB gun like a cane while he was on his cell phone. All he did was pick something up a CSGV supporter didn’t like. For that he had to die.
In the second example a 12 year old boy, Tamir Rice, was playing with an airsoft pistol in a park. An airsoft gun isn’t even a BB gun in the traditional sense as it shoots little plastic balls at very low velocity. While they are not “toys”, neither are they capable of causing any serious injury, unless one is shot in the eye. A 911 caller reported to police that Tamir had a gun and was pointing it at people. While one can question the wisdom of openly displaying an airsoft gun in public (DO NOT DO THIS) we all recall playing with realistic looking guns as kids. We played Army and cops and robbers. I even had a Starsky and Hutch playset with two metal pistols that looked all the world like a 1911 and a S&W Model 29. We played everywhere with them in yards, in parks, in the street. Nobody called the police to report armed gunmen because at the time we didn’t have organizations like the CSGV inciting their followers to get kids killed for playing games… and that is exactly what happened to little Tamir. He was shot dead by responding officers almost immediately. He had a toy gun, so he had to die.
Now please do not take the above examples as a slam of the officers involved. They believed, through the actions of callers following the CSGV script, that they were dealing with an active shooter. In that type of situation seconds... fractions of seconds... can mean the difference between life and death. They aren’t shoot first- ask questions later scenarios, but if a responding officer to an active shooter call sees someone with a gun, they WILL engage that person, and rightfully so.
The point of the above stories is that if it wasn’t for those following the advice of Ladd Everitt (the Communications Director for CSGV) and/or the other Facebook / Twitter administrators, these two people would most likely still be alive today. Mr. Crawford would be raising his children and Tamir Rice would be out enjoying the last days of summer vacation. Thanks to people like Ladd Everitt and his supporters they are both in the cold ground for holding something the gun control crowd thinks that they should not have been holding.
Now you’d think that doing things like this would be as low as a human being living in America could go. The advocacy for killing of innocent men, women and children who have the temerity to own or hold a firearm (or something that kinda-sorta looks like a firearm) is pretty low on the scale. The CSGV, not to be outdone, managed to top themselves by openly admitting it would have no issue with the government rounding up persons based on religious affiliation and race. They literally said they would have no problems and would not offer resistance if the government opened up a modern day Buchenwald in downtown Peoria. Now keep in mind that they are referring not to us, their untermensch, but rather to people they have no issue with. Imagine the glee they’d have if it was gun owners being marched off to take a Zyklon-B shower…
So at the end of the day we have an organization that actively promotes the use of violence to achieve its political goals, revels in the deaths of those they disagree with, and has no issue with the government exterminating it’s citizens based on race or religious affiliation. They happily take these positions on every social media outlet available, inciting their followers to abuse law enforcement resources in their quest to kill to make a political point, to terrorize us into giving up our property, to advocate for the deaths of 100 million Americans who own something they disapprove of … but we who simply want to be left alone in peace are “domestic terrorists” and “insurrectionists”
You might want to take a long hard look in the mirror Mr. Everitt… but I don’t think you’re going to like what you see.
- Mr. Decker
So recently I have been hearing a lot about this proclamation of war against all military personnel, veterans, their families, and law enforcement officers. I can't help but to ask myself daily now was my fight in the Middle East worth it? Was the deaths of my brothers and sisters in arms worth it? Is what I'm doing here at home to protect my community worth it? There are times where I just want to look at my combat boots and throw them in some dark corner of the closet to be forgotten, take off the badge and lay down my sidearm, and say it's not worth the price anymore.
But then there's that little voice that laughs and smiles when I look at him....the love of my life for ten years now sitting there playing with him, reading to him, and us growing as a family and then I look at the badge and my sidearm and snatch them up before they run away. I look at my combat boots with sand still on them from the Middle East and take a moment to remember why I fought and why I still fight.
I look outside and see the old stars and stripes waving in the wind on a clear summer day, I look back at my family and smile again, then I catch the picture of my family members that was taken with every one of us that have been or still in the military service. The oldest being my grandpa who was a World war 2 veteran.
I then smile more and emotion pours into my heart with that fire that was dying and I say "yeah....it's worth it". It's worth all the pain I've had to endure, it's worth the long nights and even longer days, it's worth all the fights, it's worth all the blood spilt, all the tears cried, it's worth every breath took, it's worth my life and it is worth their lives as well.
This declaration of war against police and military and anyone that believes in the American Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and the words "freedom, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness", against anyone pro-life, and anyone that doesn't look like someone else; this war that has been declared is one for the history books that shall be written years from now.
I for one will not be remembered as someone who just let this nation die and her people suffer.
I swore an oath to defend the United States from all enemies foreign and domestic. It didn't stop when I finished my term of service for the government. It still remains in my heart and blood. It remains still even with a piece of tin over my heart and a pistol on my side. Every time I step out the door in civilian clothes, it still remains.
See one thing that people forget is that the police are the thin blue line of courage against the bad guys at home and in the military, the infantry; which is my MOS, is known as the thin blue line of courage against the wolves around the world. The police are better known as sheepdogs and infantry...we are the wolves you send after the wolves. So I shall forever remain a wolf. But now I am a wolf among the sheep dogs that is the sheep dog's protection against the wolves trying to harm his sheep.
I wear a flag on my uniform with the stars facing towards the fight as I move towards it. I have a flag that I fly high and proud at home, a flag on my vehicle, and I was born under the flag of America. See old glory, the stars and stripes, U.S.A. flag she has been through hell and back and she's always manages to survive.
So for anyone that believes in this proclaimed war against police, military, veterans, their families, and the others I mentioned before here's a warning to you. You'd best bring the best you've got and when the fight starts you'd best not run because once wolves get your scent they don't stop hunting. If you want to kill my brothers and sisters like the cowardly way you have been doing it then you shall forever remain a coward in my book. Don't waste my time talking up a big game then running away once the fire you ignited starts to burn you.
In the end the thin blue line may become thinner but there shall always be those of us out there that will continue to fight and continue to protect the real American way of life because of cowards that ask for war but cannot stand on the front lines. Show me that you're willing enough to die for what you believe in and I'll at least respect you for that because I won't ever respect a coward who refuses to fight.
To all military, veterans, law enforcement, fire departments, and all other first responders thank you for what you do and please continue to do it. From one brother to another, sincerely thank you.
Stay safe, stay alert, and always carry
