It is with honor and reverent respect that we observe this Memorial Day. We bow our heads and thank God for our brothers and sisters who paid the ultimate price to protect our freedoms.
We humble ourselves as we exercise our numerous freedoms as Americans today. We acknowledge that without the sacrifice of men and women in American uniforms, throughout the ages, and across the world, we would not be the greatest country on earth. A beacon of hope, prosperity, and liberty that despite our faults, we still are today. We are able to speak our minds, worship without fear of persecution, and defend our lives because brave souls stood in the gap for us. They willingly put on the uniform, took up arms, looked the enemy of freedom in the face, and said deep within their soul, "Freedom is not free, and if must be my blood which pays the debt to keep my countrymen free, so be it."
These men and women deserve our praise and gratitude, not just on Memorial Day, but every time we partake in the freedoms for which their lives were given. As President Ronald Reagan said, "Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn't pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same, or one day we will spend our sunset years telling our children and our children's children what it was once like in the United States where men were free."
Please join us today as we honor them and pay the utmost respect for those who gave it all so that we may continue to live in the land of the free, because of their bravery.
Their sacrifice has not been made in vain. It will be remembered and honored so long as Liberty has breath and Freedom has voice.
