"Fresh off an April 11 2015 Nashville rally where only 150 people showed up (vs the NRA’s 80,000) to support her, Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America founder Shannon Watts announced that her gun control group is officially boycotting Kroger until the grocer reverses policy and bans the open carry of guns."
1MMAGC has maintained a policy to never ask supporters to visit the social media page in force to influence a business decision one way or the other, showing respect for private business to make their own decision. However that decision has been made, and we need to back them up. Kroger has made it perfectly clear on several occasions that they have no intention to change their policy regarding lawfully carried firearms. It's time that we thank Kroger for deciding to remain neutral.
We are asking you to shop at Kroger every chance you get. Go out of your way to thank the company that is obviously under intense pressure to infringe on our rights, yet still stands firm in their decision. When you checkout, send us a picture of your receipt from any Kroger owned store. You can post it to our Facebook wall, or tweet it using the simple hashtag #ThanksKroger. Be sure to tag @1mmagc & @Kroger
If you do not have a Kroger owned retailer near you, please contact them via one of these methods, if you choose postal or email, there is a sample letter you are encouraged to copy and paste in your correspondence:

Dear Harris Teeter Inc:
We're very sorry. We didn't want your stores to become a political battleground. We try to prepare for trouble on the personal level, but it's hard to respond to a group that's making you bear the brunt their intense disdain for us.
We think it's entirely unfair that certain special interest groups boycott you over your policies regarding human and civil rights protected by state and federal law, so we're going to do what we can to reduce the financial impact of their scheming.
We're going to go out of our way to shop at your stores, even ignoring sales at your local competitors at times, so long as you stay neutral.
Other stores have been victims of these special interest groups in the past. In order to no longer be political battlegrounds, they issued non-policy statements over which the special interest groups immediately declared victory.
If you're going to do that, Kroger, now is the time. Otherwise, we are all going to invest significant time and money making sure your bottom line stays where it is (or continues rising, if possible).
We don't want you to choose a side in any political debate, and we think it's entirely unfair that special interest groups are demanding you do so. Please, stay neutral.
We'll take care of everything else.
The Gun Community
